FTP Server not showing login prompt

I recently upgraded my server and I am having problems with the pureFTP server not showing the login prompt unless they add the username into the url.

EG.

ftp://domain.com ........doesn't show prompt
ftp://user@domain.com ...does show prompt

Can someone tell me where this option can be found? whether it's in a configuration file somewhere of it's an option that must be added upon server start.

Thanks for the help in advanced

P.S. I have looked at the pureftp.org authentication and setup tutorials, neither of them helping.

Do you have the problem with all browsers or only IE?
AFAIK if you use IE, you need to give ftp://user@domain.com
the first time, the next time ftp://domain.com should work

Issue resolved.
Needed to add the "BrokenClients" option enabled.
