Exploring businesscard iso gives an interesting loop

Hi

I have downloaded the business card iso from an aussie mirror.
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/d...a/i386/iso-cd/

I am aware of the purpose of the biz card and the net install cds thanks.

Instead I decided to explore it.

first attempt

Code:
mkdir deb deb2
mount -o loop /pathway/isos/debian-40r4a-i386-businesscard.iso /pathway/deb

(and)

cp -a /pathway/deb/* /pathway/deb2
Exploring normal iso under deb gives
http://h1.ripway.com/aus9/deb/deb1.png

Exploring copied iso under deb2 appears to lose the dot folder
http://h1.ripway.com/aus9/deb/deb2.png

In either deb or deb2 clicking on all folders except one produces normal behaviour.
The exception is folder debian
---which appears to create a link and start a new structure possible to infinity and beyond?

http://h1.ripway.com/aus9/deb/cycle.png

-----------------------------

So my question is as no links show up under /debian folder ....why is it kinda looping?

many thanks for the time you spend on the puzzle for my puny brain

Hi,

I've got a bizcard iso on a SD handy.... looking at it, the /debian folder itself is a link to the root folder of the CD (or SD in my case).

So starting from /mnt/sdc1 which is my SD card,

cd debian

literally gets you nowhere. I think this is so that

/boot = /debian/boot
/install = /debian/install
etc
etc

Hope that answers your question. Hmmm had you not used the copy option -a and used -pR would the copy gone splat....?

Trying it...

Answer: No, it works fine.

Anyhow to have a play....
