Error with shared libs when launching apps

I'm running Sarge and recently stareted encountering problems when trying to launch some applications (e.g. galeon and evolution). When I try to launch from the KDE menu, nothing happens. When I try from the command ๖ine, I get the following error message:

"error while loading shared libraries: dnight and 8 a.m.: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I cannot find any sensible reference to "dnight" anywhere. Has anybody encountered something similar? Can anybody suggest a solution?

Thanks
Joe
