if you are looking to upgrade to the testing from woody why not change you apt source file to testing then apt-get dist-upgrade???

it worked for me and i had minor probs with some of my source apps that just needed to be recompiled/reinstalled. everything works now.

I always use dw hedon's bootbf2.4 bootable mini installation CD. It contains the Woody 3.0.23 installer and minimal system. Then just edit /etc/apt/sources.list and dist-upgrade.
