Question editing the bootimage of DSL

I am trying to modify a Damn Small Linux CD boot image and add samba to it, however i do not have an extra computer or hard drive to install it to, modify it, and create a new image. Does anyone know how to edit a pre-compiled bootimage?

thanks

I don't know about DSL, but if it is a cd-image, you can mount it with something like
'mount -o loop image.iso dir'. There you should have the files at hand.
