Recently I had some trouble downloading Debian DVD images (ISO's) to burn onto my computer. However, I found the solution to the problem, and wanted to make everyone else aware of it.
First, the images are available from:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/un...amd64/iso-dvd/
Since the DVD images are so freakin' huge, it's difficult to d/l 'em. The first mistake is to use Firefox! Firefox will NOT download more than 2GB in a single download. Neither will (unmodified) wget. Now, since those images are 4GB and 3.4GB each, you're going to be up the proverbial creek, much like I was. You have 2 recourses:
Solution 1: Use Konqueror. I'm not a big fan of Konqueror, but it, for some strange reason, can download files up to 10GB. WTG Qt!
Solution 2: For those morally opposed to using Konqueror, there is a modification to wget, available at
http://software.lpetrov.net/wget-LFS/
Solution 3: Use torrent or jigdo. Cheater.
Anyway, I hope this helps some poor soul BEFORE they waste 24 hours and 4 DVD's downloading incomplete files. Remember kids, always check your md5sum's!
