Do you not have an internet connection ?

If you have an internet connection you should just use the Synaptic GUI or the command line tool aptitude to install packages.

What exactly are you trying to install ?

According to the various posts by this user, he build himself a distro. And he based it on Red Hat: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=564153 Unless he changed his base and build another Debian clone in the elapsed time...

Installing apt on an rpm-based system is a nightmare, installing apt on an rpm-based system you've scraped together from all over the place is nigh impossible... I recommend you'd either: a) start from scratch, using Debian as your base or b) forget building your own distro all-together. Third option, just sprang to mind, is building your distro with LFS, Gentoo or Slackware.
