dist-upgrade to lenny is not working

UPDATE!!
I found a solution to this.
It appears there is a known bug, and it wasn't even fixed in the newer etch release. grrr.
Regardless, this appears to be what I had to do...

) apt-get update
) apt-get -f install <--- That was the important part
) apt-get update
) apt-get dist-upgrade
) apt-get -f dist-upgrade

I had the same problem, and googling found the following, that worked to me:

this is caused by a conflict between different perl versions (5.8.8 for debian etch, 5.10 for lenny)

the solution was to download and install by hand some packages:

perl_5.10.0-11_amd64.deb
perl-base_5.10.0-11_amd64.deb
perl-modules_5.10.0-11_all.deb

also, changed by hand the following:
cd /usr/lib
mv perl5 _perl5
ln -s perl/5.10 perl5
