Disappearing Debian Group

I installed Debian Etch on my laptop. I'm running Gnome for my After preforming the software updates thru Synaptic I can't find the Debian group under the Applications menu. This allowed me access to things like Database menus and more importantly Network interface properties.
Thanks ahead of time for your help.

apt-get install menu

1. Open a terminal and login as root.
2. apt-get install menu

That should do it. If it complains about it already being installed, then dpkg-reconfigure menu should clean things up.

Same problems

I also installed the Debian menu but it does not appear in the Applications tab. I went to Systems > Preferences > Main Menu and clicked the Debian entry but nothing happens. Maybe you have to do it manually. I would like to know the path to the Debian menu such as /usr/bin/?????. If someone knows, please let me know. Perhaps this solves the problem. Thanks

That should have fixed it. Did you actually get a check mark in the little box? Maybe you have to restart Gnome.

dissappearing debian menu

Uninstall and reinstall the menu and menu-xdg:
Here is the code

sudo apt-get remove --purge menu menu-xdg
sudo apt-get install menu menu-xdg

This did it for me. Good Luck
