df issue..

On my debian system, when I do a df -h:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdc5 4.6G 23M 4.3G 1% /
/dev/sdc1 182M 2.7M 170M 2% /boot
/dev/sdc6 4.6G 726M 3.6G 17% /usr
/dev/sdc7 841M 426M 372M 54% /var
/dev/sdc10 22G 5.8G 15G 28% /home
/dev/sdc8 564M 20k 534M 1% /tmp

when I do a du -h /var:

245M /var

When I reboot the machine df shows the same space as du but then the problem starts again. Any thoughts any comments. TIA..

There might be some deleted files that are still used by some running programs.
