Delete Problem

I have some files in the trash that won't delete. Is there a command to forcibly delete any file in the trash bin? Funny thing is that the trash bin is empty when I log on as root and is full as a regular user. I've only had Debian installed for only a few hours and I don't know if its supposed to be like that or what.Is there a way to forcibly delete anything in the trash

You might want to try to use the terminal to remove items via the command rm. That way it bypasses the trash box all together.

Re: Delete Problem

What desktop environment do you use (KDE, Gnome)?

Probably that's because every user has a trash bin on his own?

Code:
rm -rf /location/of/file/filename
forces a delete. Beware of the command though. Making a typo can have serious concequenses!

If you are using gnome, then every user will have his own trash. Root will have his trash in /root/.Trash/ (or whatever the home directory is) and normal users will have their trash in /home/user/.Trash/. You can go to the location using the command line and delete the trash. using the "rm" command.

I dont know the case with kde, since I've never used it
