Debian install problems Help!

Hi!, I tried to install Debian the netinstall version the other day and it hangs at 80% when it's detecting hardware to find CD-ROM drives. I do not know what to do. I have booted under expert mode to disable some devices that I don't need at boot but then I get 'ide-detect' for ' Linux Ide Detection'... Is there any other way of getting pass this hang? What are your suggestions.

Thanks

It also happened to me with the base system installation, it still in beta, i aborted the installation. Inserted CD1 typed:

bf24

at the prompt, followed the instructions from :http://osnews.com/story.php?news_id=2016

after the woody installation, pointed my sources.list to 'sarge' did:

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

and ended up with a beautiful sarge, this time i used Reiserfs instead of Ext3 (just to try it), and installed grub. The dev boys have done a good job, it's fast, really classy. My cousin uses SuSE and told me my PII box seemed faster than his PIII.

Are you using Woody or Sarge install?? If you're having problems with Woody.. use Sarge... You'll have a much more pleasant experience...

Also you could possibly try the "nodma" at bootup... (I don't know if this would help or not)
