I have installed debian 10.9 on thinkpad e15 and there are still few things to configure, there are no sound, it says dummy output, how can I configure the sound card ?
Another problem is that the trackpoint mouse with its buttons does not work, I tried configuring it using the help of thinkwiki page, but I have no previous experience with it and thus was not successful, I use linux since a while a go but never encountered this issue!
Another important problem is that the suspend does not work properly, when running
#systemctl suspend
the system suspends correctly, but after resuming it and logging in, in few seconds the computer automatically reboots!?
Mileage may vary, as I'm on a Thinkpad T420 but have had no stability issues for years now with mainly Sid. IMO even stable is old. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases
I hate to suggest non-free firmware but the hardware is, if all else fails?
Edit: I do want to add, that usually you should start multiple threads; now that one is [solved] it could have helped others find if they're having that exact problem.

Reason: ...................................................added :hattip:
I tried to install the gnome-shell-extention that is a button to suspend but it caused the same behavior!
I also tried the options mentioned on the thinkwiki page but did not succeed in making the trackpoint work.
Suspend is the main problem now, because I do npt need to keep my laptop running all the time nor to need to shut it down every day !
Also I do not know why, but sometimes the numbers buttons on the right of the keyboard does not work even when the numlock is disabled, so do any of you know why or have any suggestions as to how to activate it ??
This is another problem, because while installing the os, I choosed to install all of debian under one partition, the /, and it automatically left only 1GB to swap in another partition, so I only have the root partition (/) and swap, as a result there is no enough space in swap to hibernate, I tried to shrink the / partition and give swap more gigabytes, but I was not able to umount it because it is in use, so if any of you can direct me as to how to solve this one more problem that would be great!!!
All options of the SLEEP section in /etc/systemd/sleep.conf are commented, tried to uncomment all of them and that did not help either!
The point is that under the same distro (debian 10.9) on the old computer, they all are commented and it still can suspend and hibernate properly !!
Strange right ?
