configuring aptitude to install 'suggests'

Hi

Aptitude automatically installs 'depends' and 'recommends'
packages and also automatically purges them when they are not needed.
I have read somewhere that aptitude can be configured to automatically install 'suggests' packages. But I dont know how to do this. How can I do this using command line.

You can't make it install suggestd automatically. However, you can get it to not remove them, until they're not needed by anything. From the aptitude manual:
Code:
Option: Aptitude::Keep-Suggests
Default: false
Description: If this option is true, aptitude will keep automatically installed packages on the system as long as any installed package suggests them.
So, if you put
Code:
Aptitude::Keep-Suggests "true";
into /etc/apt/apt.conf you will get this behavior.

Linux: aptitude

--with-recommends, --with-suggests Treat recommends or suggests, respectively, as dependencies when installing new packages. (this overrides settings in /etc/apt/apt.conf and ~/.aptitude/config)
