Command Line Tips

Does anyone use a pure command line system without X ?
I'm interested in what can be done on one, purely for learning purposes.
I realise a lot can be done, but wonder if there is any sites dedicated to this type of thing, besides linuxcommand.org.
Thanks...

Well, yeah, you can do pretty much anything. Graphics editing is a bit out, though...

But web, IM, IRC (probably, never tried it), sound, coding, configuration, networking...even games (long live nethack .

I've got X and WindowMaker, but I'll usually just leave it in commandline mode if all I want is a quick email check and I don't feel like waiting for X to load.

I use X and Gnome on my desktop. I just don't like command line workstations.

But I use a command line system on my server. It's and old machine (Dual Pentium 2 300Mhz, 256 MB RAM) and it runs perfectly. X is completely unnecessary on servers (especially the overhead of loading a graphical environment). My server runs Apache, ProFTPD, Samba, eDonkey and some other stuff.
