i am trying to install a debian based distro (demudi from www-agnula-org{replace dots}) but i keep running into this problem.
when i get to the apt-configuration part of the install it asked me from which source i want to install from. naturally i say CD ROM because that is where all the pakages are. but then it says that it can't locate the cd rom drive and needs me to state the 'CD ROM device file'. i have tryied everything, /dev/cdrom /dev/hdd /cdrom but nothing seems to work. because i cant get past this step i end up with a base install with no gui or software. its killing me because i don't understand why it can't find the cdrom drive even though its been reading off it up untill now, weird.
i tried investigating how to mount the device using
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /cdrom
but it doesn't like that either.
this same problem (obvisously) occurs with dselect when i choose the source. it asks me for the cdrom block device.
i hope you have a slight clue as to how i solve this one otherwise a link would be handy.
Thanks for reading anyway.
hope all is well.
cheers.
Tom.
