Cannot Apt-get Remove Mozilla-browser?


I want to remove mozilla-browser from my Debian sarge 3.1.But after i issued the command apt-get remove mozilla-browser, it also asked me to delete gnome-core?
Of course i aborted.
So howto delete mozilla-browser without deleting gnome-core? Thx.

debian:~# apt-get remove mozilla-browser

you can just go ahead and delete gnome-core its only a virtual package.

Thank you very much.
I did it and it really worked.

Virtual means 'not real package',right? that is to say, we can delete it anytime if we like. But why we need virtual packages?

I'm a newbie for Debian Linux.

because its an easy way to get a set of packages, some examples are x-window-system which pulls in all you need to get x running smoothly, kde-core which just pull in the bare minimum needed for kde. They give us an easier life basically
