can see lan but can't use net

Hi,

I have a new latop and have plugged it into my home network and can see the lan and all but cannot use the internet connection that is shared by a win2k machine.

I have a desktop on the same lan and both it and laptop are running woody. I have pretty much copied the netconf values from the desktop which can use the net to the laptop and given it a different ip address. This doesn't work...

I really just a need a pointer to the files I should compare on the two machines I think. Any clues?

Alex

what is your distro?

I guess it is a getaway problem!

what ifconfig -a gives you?

Can you run netconf and check through there!
