Audigy 2

Hi All,
I am running debian unstable with 2.4.28 kernel. Recently, I have bought a new "Audigy 2 zs" sound card. I was trying to load the module for Audigy in 2.4.18 kernel. But I realised that it does not support audigy 2.
So, I installed the "kernel-image-2.4.23". I installed "sndconfig", "alsa-base", "alsa-utils", "alsa-lib". But when I configure the soundcard through "sndconfig", it says audigy2 is not supported yet. I don't find any module for Audigy2 in kernel 2.4.23. I tried to intall kernel-image-2.6.0, but I mouse stop working and I can't start GUI.
I want to install the module without compiling the kernel.

You need to download the latest cvs source from http://opensource.creative.com
I use that driver for a year now and my Audigy2 works fine. It installs as a module so you don't need to recompile your kernel, just the driver module.

I downloaded the "emu10k1-v0.20a.tar.bz2" from "http://opensource.creative.com/".
I installed the 2.8.18 kernel-source and made a symlink to Linux.
I tried to install the downloaded Audigy2 driver but it is asking for bf2.4 kernel source.
My kernel is bf2.4. But I coudnot find kernel-source of bf2.4.

I checked the availability of kernel-source

Arpita:/home/subh# apt-cache search kernel-source
kernel-source-2.4.19-hppa - Linux kernel source for version 2.4.19 on HPPA
kernel-source-2.6.0-test2 - Linux kernel source for version 2.6.0-test2 with Debian patches
kernel-source-2.6.0-test4 - Linux kernel source for version 2.6.0-test4 with Debian patches
lidstools-2.4 - LIDS Admintool
kernel-patch-2.4-lids - LIDS Kernel Patch
kernel-patch-2.2-lids - LIDS Kernel Patch
lidstools-2.2 - LIDS Admintool
nvidia-kernel-src - NVIDIA binary kernel module - dummy package
kernel-source-2.4.21 - Linux kernel source for version 2.4.21 with Debian patches
kernel-patch-debian-2.4.21 - Debian patches to Linux 2.4.21
kernel-source-2.2.25 - Linux kernel source for version 2.2.25
kernel-source-2.4.20 - Linux kernel source for version 2.4.20 with Debian patches
kernel-source-2.4.19 - Linux kernel source for version 2.4.19
kernel-source-2.5.69 - Linux kernel source for version 2.5.69 with Debian patches
freeswan - IPSEC utilities for FreeSWan
nvidia-kernel-source - NVIDIA binary kernel module source
kernel-source-2.4.18 - Linux kernel source for version 2.4.18

I can only find the 2.4.18 kernel. I installed the kernel through apt-get and unpacked and made a symlink to linux in /usr/src.

Then I followed the instruction of installing Audigy2.
But, I am getting the folowing error :-Arpita:/usr/src/emu10k1-v0.20a# make && make && make install && make tools && make install_tools
make -Cscripts
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/emu10k1-v0.20a/scripts'

/lib/modules/2.4.18-bf2.4/build directory does not exist. Please edit the file 'config'
in this directory and set KERNEL_SOURCE to the correct location of your
kernel source.

You are currently running kernel version 2.4.18-bf2.4, the source code should
be for this version.

make[1]: *** [get_version] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/emu10k1-v0.20a/scripts'
make: *** [opts] Error 2

I have also installed the kernel-headers-2.4.18-bf2.4.
I am not able to find any "build" directory.
What wrong am I doing?
