Question Armada E500 laptop "synaptics reset failed"

I'm trying to install debian onto my E500 laptop and am having troubles.

I'm using sarge net install and 2.6.8-1-386 kernel
my boot parameters are...
expert26 vga=771 noapic nolapic

I go through install just fine and I use reiserFS and it seems to detect all my hardware just fine.
When I try to reboot into my new installation everything seems to go well until I get to the hotplug part

input: PC Speaker
pcspkr: loaded successfully
rtc: loaded successfully
synaptics reset failed
synaptics reset failed

and then it jus hangs forever...
Does anyone have ideas how I can fix this?
perhaps I can use a livecd and edit the blacklist for hotplug and put in synaptic or somethin.

thanx everyone

after looking around for a bit I've found out that this a bug in kernels 2.6.8 to 2.6.9 or 10.
Is there any net install disks with 2.6.11 on them or am I going to end up being stuck with 2.4.x.

Could I install 2.4.X first and then use apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.11-1-686?
