Aptitude update ghost entry in sources.list

After doing an aptitude update, I get this message at the end of the process. This is not in my sources.list. How can I get rid of this (below)? Also, my sources.list is at the very bottom of this post.

thanks,

This is indeed interesting.

Have you ever used a ppa to install something and then remove the ppa from your sources.list?

Just as a reminder, it is a very bad practice to use any Ubuntu repos, including ppa's, on regular Debian or Debian offspring. Ubuntu has changed their file system in some very small ways but many packages will not work correctly using the Ubuntu install script in the .deb.

Have a look into the directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d for files containing that extra entry.

Hi guys and thanks for the replies. I removed "http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team...md64/Packages:" from sources.list.d. I've never dealt with that file before and am still not sure what the difference between something being placed there as opposed to just sources.list. I did an "aptitude update" though and all looks good. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

There is no real difference, APT looks in both places. Usually third party applications put their stuff into sources.list.d, so that they don't have to edit the sources.list file.
