amd64 sid desktop environment

Anyone else having issues installing a desktop environment under Deb amd64 sid. I can install wm's like flux or xfce4 but not gnome or KDE.

Code:
# apt-get install gnome
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome: Depends: gnome-desktop-environment (= 64) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnome-office (= 64) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: evolution (>= 2.0.3) but it is not going to be installed or
balsa but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gnome-cups-manager (>= 0.25) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
Does similar with KDE.

It seems as though they are frozen or something.

Are they finally making sarge stable and sid testing?

Use aptitude to determine what will be broken if you force an install. Try to install the dependencies seperetaly, until you find the broken package. Because both gnome and kde fail I guess it is a X problem. This has no connection to a freeze or the sarge release.

Thanks for the info. I actually reinstalled sid 3 times using the same known working configuration, and same packages, with the same results. I tried sarge also but received some package install errors. What's weird is I have installed Debian quite a few times on this machine with absolutely no problems. perfect installs every time, then this happens. Oh well I will come back to deb again soon. I actually installed ubuntu amd64 in it's place. Just to check it out. To me there is no comparison speed wise, Debian kicks its ass. But, ubuntu is a pretty sweet derivative. i think I'll wait until sid goes testing and we get a new unstable. I likes the Debian unstable

Thanks again.
