1360x768 resolution on Lenny?

Have Debian Lenny stable and Kubuntu on amd64 box. The kubuntu will give 1360x768 resolution on the tv being used as a monitor, the tv's native resolution, but the Lenny will only give 12??x768.

Tried using the kubuntu xorg.conf file for lenny. But it did not work. Using Nvidia's up to date proprietary drivers on Lenny, think I am for kubuntu but not entirely sure.

How get Lenny to use 1360x768? Thanks.

Said xorg.conf that works on Kubuntu:
Code:

1360X768 is not a standard mode, nor is 1280x768---but I don't know if that matters.

One thing to try is a modeline. Here's what I get using "gtf":

Code:
[mherring@mystical ~]$ gtf 1360 768 60

  # 1360x768 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 47.70 kHz; pclk: 84.72 MHz
  Modeline "1360x768_60.00" 84.72 1360 1424 1568 1776 768 769 772 795 -HSync +Vsync
Put the modeline in the "monitor" section, and the name of the mode in Screen-->Display-->modes

You tell Lenny to use the DefaultDepth 24, but there's no corresponding entry in the Screens section. Should look like
Code:
    SubSection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1360x768" "1280x768" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
Be sure to remove any # from each line, otherwise Lenny will ignore the line!

Tried http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/xtiming.pl the XFree86 Modeline Generator and got:

Television things from its 'manual':
Code:
Horizontal (pixel) Vertical (line) Horiz freq kHz Vert freq Hz Standard
1360 (actually 1366) 768 47.4 or 47.8 60 VESA
So your horiz freq is safer than mine. But I'll risk using mine if yours does not work, hoping it will just say, 'out of range'.

I was sort of wondering if it was possible or likely to be helpfull to put the Kubuntu X server on Lenny?

Great thanks both.

Cannot get anything to work. This must be a common problem - 1360x768 is very usual for TVs.
