Unhappy 'command not found' after upgrade

After upgrading my Debian-package by using 'aptitude' every Command on my Debian-Server says 'command not found'.
E.g.:
root@server:~# dir
-bash: dir: command not found

All modules and applications that were installed before updating are still running as hey should (apache, mysql, webmin, samba, cyrrus).

But because of the 'command not found'-problem I'm not able to install new modules or applications.

I hope anyone out there is able to help me... I don't want to reinstall my whole system...

p.s.: by the way: sorry for my bad english...

Seems as tyhough your PATH is not set up correctly, try:

# echo $PATH

and see what that says.

First: Thanks for the help.

But: I tried
echo $PATH

It returned:
/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11

That seems to be correctly.

Any other ideas?
