i downloaded it again, from another mirror, and burned it to a new disk, but same problem. i get the splash, press F2 for options, choose vga=normal, hit enter, and it gets as far as "Uncompressing Linux, OK, booting kernel" and thats where it hangs...

ok, downloaded the 0.9.1 iso and tried that...same problem, it hangs at "uncompressing linux, ok, booting the kernel"

i've tried pretty much every combination of commands to boot this sucker, including failsafe and expert...and am getting nowhere.

it's like it suddenly maybe doesn't see my cdrom?

I pulled it down a couple of weeks ago - no issues.
Only ran it as "toram" as I needed to free up the CD so I could burn some failure logs from the hard disc prior to re-install.
As I said, I had no issues at all.

Try unplugging unnessary hardware and install. I have .9.3.1 working good on my Dell 400SC and in a Vmware window

Try disabling acpi in your bios. It worked for me with Ubuntu Breezy on a Toshiba notebook.
Good luck
