My Toshiba chromebook now runs Devuan Linux, & is updated fairly regularly.

Today, I upgraded from Devuan 4 to Devuan 5, no problem - & mine is from 2014 - it'll be good for a few more versions too.

I can keep my computer safe. I can't afford to replace phones every few years.

That’s nice, for people who will buy one of those Chromebooks. I didn’t know how short the support period was when I bought one. It went out of support just over 3 years after I bought it. That kind of unpleasant surprise leaves me not inclined to ever buy a Chromebook again.

Ten years support, if I ever have use for a computer that I don’t mind Google being able to see everything happening on it (like a guest or public computer), might cause me to reconsider. I’d still rather use a non-ChromeOS Linux for that, though.

My Chromebook now runs Arch. It took awhile (and a few breakages) to figure out how to avoid breakage after updates. Since then, it has updated and run stably.
