yum installation giving ssl connection error and fails

I am trying to install postgresql in my centos 6 and yum install is giving ssl error.

[root@posthost ~]# yum install https://download.postgresql.org/pub/...0-2.noarch.rpm
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: mirror.nbrc.ac.in
* extras: mirror.horizon.vn
* updates: mirrors.123host.vn
https://download.postgresql.org/pub/...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] problem making ssl connection
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: pgdg10. Please verify its path and try again
[root@posthost ~]#

I tried to clean the cache as below, but with no luck.

[root@posthost ~]# yum clean all

And i put sslverify=false in yum.conf and sslverify=0 in all repositories, i did a reboot, and restarted network and NetworkManager, but again it is not working
I am directly connecting to internet without any proxy.

Please help me here.

Why not install from repo instead?
What is the output of:

Code:
yum search postgresql

Because the version that ships in the CentOS repositories is ancient and Postgres maintains repos with the current version.

First, try:

Code:
yum update ca-certificates
If that doesn't work, as long as you are reasonably confident in the GPG key you imported wasn't compromised, just edit your /etc/yum.repos.d/pg*.repo file and change the URLs from https to http. The GPG signing will protect you from a MiTM.

You need to install the repository to your system by using the rpm command and then install postgresql using yum.

Thanks Tyler. It worked well.

yum update ca-certificates, given ssl error again
So i changed https to http in yum respository files and then successfully completed the installation.

You're welcome, just make sure to never turn off GPG verification.

OP your system is not trusting the CA certificate of the HTTPS server. You should find out why that is. Do you have a web proxy doing ssl inspection? If so then the proxy might be re-signing the SSL connection and you'd need to add that CA into your system.
