How to unpack/open icon theme & where to put in and how to install it?

A mouthful there for the title. My apologies. https://www.deviantart.com/palko-dra...lack-725497336

When it is downloaded from the link. then what and how do you install it to pick it for use?

I need to find better icons than the ones that come with Bodhi. I am using Gnome now and it is OK.

Edit. i would appreciate an answer re: 2 - gtk themes too. I am not sure if gtk3 themes work with Bodhi so any information re: this would be helpful.

Thank you but it is way beyond my ability. There is no extraction when i right click in bodhi - only open with. Nothin to choose. Gnome had an extract in r click menu. Thanks.

Bohdi is a minimalistic distro. So only few applications are included. I you want to extract compressed files in the file-mamager you will need to install a little application that does it for you:
Code:
sudo apt-get install file-roller
and now you will have the right-click option like you had in gnome.

It's a 7zip file. That's a format mostly used in Windows but there is a Linux unpacker for it called p7zip. You could probably install that with apt.

The point ondoho is making is that if you do want to install an icon theme for your personal use, you should unpack it in your home directory tree (~/.local/share/icons). That way you don't need to be root.

@ondoho: there are several spelling mistakes in your blog. Send me a copy and I'll proofread it for you.

Thank you too. i extracted easily in my old distro with gnome. I also was told to create a .themes and a .icons folder in my hidden area of home and copy the unpacked there. It DID work a couple of months back.
