How to change host name in Ubuntu Server 6.06 LTS?

Posted 08-28-2007 at 03:37 AM by rupeshpra

How to change host name in Ubuntu Server 6.06 LTS? Can anyone suggest me what should i do?
why is not anyone reading my blog or none knows the answers for my query?
Actually i've setup the Ubuntu SErver with LAMP,Bind9,Postfix,SSH,Webmin,Dovecot IMAP,POP3,
and while doing so i had misspelled the hostname and now i need to change without affecting the rest of the whole system,
Once i had tried this but it didnt worked out, " sysctl kernel.hostname=newhostname"
while using this, the server didnt recognize any command and the error reported was "unknown host".

I would also like to ask anyone in this forum, that i've setup a mail server using, POSTFIx,Dovecot IMAP/POP3, and creating all the necessary ceritficate for TLS,configured the SASL and all other necessary configuration as stated in the Ubuntu Official site. For testing i even used "telnet localhost " and " telnet localhost IMAP2 or POP3" and it worked and it meaned that the configuration was correct.
The problem how can i test that it can really send and receive mail securly?

Thanx for the solution in advance and please read my this blog or post whatever.
