Hi. I'm jon.404, a Unix/Linux/Database/Openstack/Kubernetes Administrator, AWS/GCP/Azure Engineer, mathematics enthusiast, and amateur philosopher. This is where I rant about that which upsets me, laugh about that which amuses me, and jabber about that which holds my interest most: *nix.

Starting a new chapter

The time has come for me to bid farewell to San Antonio. I accepted a position at Amazon's Seattle office so I could get my wife closer to her aging Dad (who we haven't seen since our wedding over a decade ago).

It's a real bittersweet time for me. My team at Rackspace is (and will likely be for a very long time) the coolest group of people I've ever had the pleasure of working with...and on top of that, I had the best customers a Linux tech could ask for. Sure, the occasional MySQL/Oracle/etc... mishap occurred, but we worked through it together: my team and our customers.

I learned so much from my customers and team...I'm going to miss you guys. Hopefully our paths cross again in the future.

As for Amazon, I couldn't be more in awe. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
