An Alternate Glade Build. Yes, this actually pertains to the parser, but nevermind that for now.
Need to build glade with -g3 flags? The Computer Mad Science Team does, and so today's marvelous adventure starts here. [Only needs 'make' and the original glade sources d/load to do it.]

Our attempt to use the standard ./configure-make sources to get glade to compile with debug flags failed. What are brick walls for? They are for busting with our hard heads. And here's how we did it.
So in conclusion
src ==> <here>/src/src
gladeui ==> <here>/gladeui/gladeui
plugins (buf if you want them you'll need mc2) ==> <here>/plugins/plugins
And make.
If you want to see if it works, type './run-glade'
If you have kdbg, and you want to see what glade does, type 'kdbg bin/glade'.
If you want to install it, uh... why? The binary download is probably what you want.

I don't think you need qt to use it. Hopefully not, but no quarantees. We may need to update the downloads for 32/64 bits, but that's all that's ready to go at this time.
There's also a 64 bit kdevelop3 download in the pipeline. In fact I may have already posted it but if I did, I think it might have a problem in the installer, though the binary tree is all you Computer Mad Scientists really need. ;-)

Our attempt to use the standard ./configure-make sources to get glade to compile with debug flags failed. What are brick walls for? They are for busting with our hard heads. And here's how we did it.
- There was a missing header definition in src/glade_window.c.
* It might not be too hard to figure out what it does, but we commented it out.
// gtk_widget_set_margin_start (check, 6); // -rs - It still did not compile with the flags we needed so we ran uncmake (available at linuxquestions.org) on it and discovered all the flags needed to get it to compile and put those into mc2.def files and recreated a directory structure that mc2 (available at linuxquestions.org) could use to make it a PROJECT type.
In order to monitor and control the process using kdevelop from KDE3 (the IDE.exec file) the original directories were duplicated and the sources were placed in a subdirectory with the same name so that #include <name>/<file.h> would still work but with the new INCLUDE path, set in mc2.def.
After a couple of failed attempts, the flags actually used by the ./configure, make build were isolated for both glade and libgladeui, and from there it was a cakewalk. - If you want a debug version of glade and haven't had any success with any other method, try this. If you have mc2 you can modify the Makefiles as you wish very easily using 'make update' to recreate all the makefiles recursively.
Or you can try changing stuff in the config.make text file. I'm using Linux Mint 17 mulit-arch, and though you'd expect that Mint would keep all the updates in sync, well that just never happens in linux. And that's why automake and ./configure and everything often don't work. It's generally better to just get the binary package than try to build this stuff yourself... unless, of course, you're a Computer Mad Scientist! - So we put the original glade files from gladeui into gladeui/gladeui and we put the original files from src into src/src and we run 'make' in this directory, and see what happens.
A couple of system dependent locations may cause you problems, and for those who do not have mc2, those have been put into a config.make file. The main problem you're likely to have if you have been trying to use pkg-config is with the x86_64 (amd64) lib path which could be anything from /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib to /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu, to who knows what else. And that pathis mainly for the glibconfig.h file, or whatever it's called. Hard to find but it's down there somewhere.

I don't think you need qt to use it. Hopefully not, but no quarantees. We may need to update the downloads for 32/64 bits, but that's all that's ready to go at this time.
There's also a 64 bit kdevelop3 download in the pipeline. In fact I may have already posted it but if I did, I think it might have a problem in the installer, though the binary tree is all you Computer Mad Scientists really need. ;-)
