Key steps to increase Linux desktop adoption

If you use Linux and you're reading this, you probably love Linux. It's a fantastic replacement for the operating systems that we are usually forced to use. Linux is stable, safe, and easy to use.

In the last couple of years, hardware support has, almost literally, exploded for Linux. There are only a few items that don't "just work" out of the package. And this brings up the first problem. Those few pieces of hardware that don't work are always the ones you have laying...

Local Linux support base

In my opinion, Linux needs more local support and advertising. It's harder to change someone's mind without a local support base being in their general vicinity.

I am currently attending a school for the military. I have been able to convince at least 4 people to switch to or use Linux. I haven't heard too many complaints.

The problem is that I have no other Linux users with which to confer. I would like to have a "support group" for Linux users. I know that...

Distribution confusion

Recently, I had to make a tough decision. Every Linux user will face this particular decision at least once whether they know it or not. I guess that the hardest part about it was that I didn't know if my choice would be good or bad. Even more frustrating was the fact that I believe that no one should have to face this choice.

For at least four years, Fedora has been my distribution of choice. It began when I tried Red Hat 9 for the first time. Honestly, my first experience was terrible...

There's so much here, and I've learned so much about fixing any Linux related issues that I have. Maybe I should write some stuff to help... I hope that I can contribute something to make these bits worthwhile.
