real second blog entry

Posted 06-20-2010 at 06:06 PM by gnyrfta

Ok, this is my real second blog entry.

I wrote a simple program where I enter my ingredients at home, and the program checks recipes to see how many ingredients are missing to make the different recipes.
I had a long busride with the vegetarian cookbook my sister gave me, and I was thinking how most of it looked good but Im always missing some ingredient or other...

Anyhows, the program works fine - I wrote it in Octave, which is what we learnt at school and is the freeware version of Matlab. But so far I dont get why one should write programs in C# instead of in Octave - where is the gain? Is it just some kind of operating system standard or are there also fundamental things you can do with C# that you cant do with Octave /Matlab?
