LFS EXTON Linux live DVD/USB is built using Linux From Scratch 10.1/11.2 and Beyond Linux From Scratch 10.1/11.2 (BLFS).

How to make a simple Frugal install (Puppy Linux like) of many major Linux distributions :: 241025

Recently I found a way to make a simple Frugal install (Puppy Linux like) of many major Linux distributions. The method is called FirstRibIT. It was announced by wiak at the Puppy Linux Discussion Forum 240630. At the moment the following Linux distributions are supported:
1 FirstRib anypup (default BookwormPup64_10.0.6.iso; rough shutdown) firstribed using FR wiak initrd
2 PopOS64
3 EndeavourOS
4 Manjaro
7 MakuluLinux-Shift-x64-Ubuntu
8 MX Linux X64...

I've released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (240816). The previous ExTiX Deepin version with Deepin 23 RC is from 240607. This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 23 STABLE (latest version) released by Deepin Technology on August 15, 2024. Please read the Release Notes. ExTiX 24.8 uses kernel 6.10.3-amd64-exton. I’ve released a new version of ExTiX Deepin today (240209). The previous ExTiX Deepin version with Deepin 23 BETA 2 is from 240110. This ExTiX Build is based on Deepin 23 BETA 3 (latest version) released by Deepin Technology on February 2, 2024. The developers urge people to try Deepin BETA 3 in a non-production environment! I must say, though, that I haven’t discovered any “bugs”. And the installed programs won’t “crash” or anything like that....

I’ve made a new EXTRA version of exGENT with only a few necessary packages pre-installed. The system is built from “scratch”. I.e. installed the “Gentoo way” following the Gentoo Handbook. It uses LXDE as Desktop Environment and kernel 5.15.80-gentoo-x86_64 (Gentoo’s original kernel) while running the system live (from a DVD or a USB stick).
