intrepid, PS3, update sources list from "ubuntu" to "ports-ubuntu"

Now, does it matter if I do it with:
-vi /etc/apt/sources.list
or
-gedit /etc/apt/sources.list?
AND
When the new address is inserted and the old line (see bolded blue line) is "commented" with and "#" how do I make sure when I update my software the change is taken into account? In other words how and where do I save it?
