qemu-system-arm experience

Today I've finally managed to take some time to RTFM and launch fedora-arm in qemu. Why fedora and not armedslack? Well... For some funny unknown reason neither armedslack 13.1 nor -current kernels won't boot at all(it just halts after "decompessing linux, booting...") while fedora's old 2.6.22 one boots with no problems.
I'm looking forward to learn it a bit further, build a newer kernel for qemu and then re-attempt to boot into armedslack rootfs with it.
Currently looking around in this system. Feeling kinda happy Though I definitely would like to have hardware.
BTW just yesterday I've seen this: Excito B3: http://www.excito.com/ a nice server box based on ARM, also reviewed on http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...xcito_b3&num=1

Mmm, that Excito B3 looks interesting.
Had a bit(?) of a disaster with my SheevaPlug. Will write a blog entry about it sooner or later.

Oh, let me know. By the way I'm having some troubles with cross-compiling... So far I could not install cross-toolkit @ my gentoo box so atm I've built a kernel in other arm virtual machine It took almost 2 hours for 2.6.34.7 with successful results, I used the produced kernel to boot into recent gentoo-stage3. Going to continue this investigation later. B3 is very interesting thing, looks to be fully prepared for production environment, I love that box. Though I don't have a requirement for a home server on arm yet, otherwise I would had likely get one.

I don't know much (if anything) about cross-compiling, and I haven't got round to trying Gentoo yet.
Isn't a home server the same whatever architecture it's based on? If you've any use for one, the B3 would be ideal.

Just built 2.6.36 with same config as my 2.6.34.7 and it refused to boot. Same situation as in slackware 13.1 / current kernels. This is weird now.
