I am not suggesting that Linux Mint, featured here, is the most suitable Linux distribution (distro) for all users and for all computer hardware.
What I am suggesting is that the excellent “Explaining Computers” Linux Mint 19 video tutorial will provide a valuable insight for those Windows users who wish to move to Linux. It is a model of clarity presented by a natural communicator:
“Explaining Computers” video-Linux Mint 19:

The first 6 minutes deals with the very important installation process.
For a Linux novice it is essential that the distro’s installer is user-friendly and that the installation process goes as smoothly as possible, thus increasing the user’s confidence at a critical stage.
Linux Mint, plus Zorin OS and the several Ubuntu varieties etc, all score highly with their straightforward, well-designed installers.
The rest of the video explains Linux Mint’s features, updates, TimeShift, default programs, adding programs etc.
LQ member Mill J has done an excellent piece on how to choose a Linux distribution and it is essential reading for those new to Linux:

This is yet another excellent video tutorial from “Explaining Computers” featuring Zorin OS 15 Core :

Do not pay €39 for the Zorin OS 15 Ultimate version.
Please note that Zorin OS has several useful boot options including one for nvidia graphics drivers, which makes life easier for those with nvidia graphics cards.
Zorin OS 15 is based on Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS and can be downloaded (scroll down for the free Core version) at:
