my arch linux has not let me update in months.

you need a new mirrorlist, and preferably have more than just a few fallback servers in there.
i recomment generating one with reflector.

this is how i use it:

/usr/bin/reflector --connection-timeout 180 --verbose --protocol https --latest 200 --sort score --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
PS:
if that doesn't help, you might need to

PPS:
the code you posted, is that really what it looks like? it's broken.
maybe you'd like to re-post it in code tags.

i kept changing my mirrorlist over and over already. same thing. this was all my fault for not remembering that arch no longer supported 32 bit. that was the problem. i'm going to play with the community supported 32 bit version.

changing to arch32 did not go so smoothly, but it is working now on the 2 machines i switched over. i just had to put a few hours into the effort.
