Chromium doesn't save "default browser"+ Desktop isn't "snappy"

Hey friends.

I'm using arch64bit
fully updated with kde 4.3.4
I am surfing the web with chromium
whenever I start the application it throws a message "chromium is not your default browser, would you like to make it default"? I always press "yes"
but after i reset the machine it asks me again. it doesn't "remember".
another thing which might be a bit harder to explain.
the desktop doesn't work fast.
it's not "smooth" enough. the menus don't pop write away when I click.
it seems like everything takes a little bit more time that it should be.
it's not snappy. I don't know if it is truly a problem or maybe it's because that's the way kde 4.3.4 is.
My machine is pretty ok. it's an acer timeline with core 2 duo SU9400 processor, 4GB of ram and intel 4500mhd graphic chip.

thanks everyone.

Hmm, a few months ago there was a problem with slow KDE due to Xorg upgrade but it got fixed through updates. Check the output of top to see which processes are using how much resources. You can also try creating a new user and see if the problems with KDE and/or chromium still exists for him.
