well things will happen a bit quicker now that i got a fat one in the bag .
i joined this site back in jan 08 .(i have 9 mins left so this is going to be short and wont make much sence you will need to read the second entry i know why not save draft and finish post in full later i could but i thought the idea about the blogging scene was to give people an insight into the writer so im posting because i often find myself in this type of position )

ok heres the fast lowdown i am a wanna be profesional gambler only horse racing and wanted to improve my structure by including a pc to improve admin/productivity.

alls well an fine i find a sprinter called loch verdi and take the 8's on offer 60 or so seconds later i had more than enough to buy a laptop which i later identified as one of the freevents the x59 stable i did not know alot about computers (oops gota go kid will be back shortly ).

crikey its been a while since the cheltenham festival yes it went pretty good

have got some tables done on my database plus over 1200 entries although i really do have a long way to go ,im deeply unsure about giving racing information away i have mixed feelings about it fine when its a winner and terrible when it falls at the first .

finally got ubuntu on to my asus 901 put in a 2g ram stick wow does that make a difference seriously anyone who has one of these little beasts make it your 2nd improvement after changing the os.

did a lot of resarch before finally decided to install
centos 5.3 onto my tower but in the week before i installed a few distro's yes ive had my darkstar login prompt .

finally got round to joining my local linux user's group and it was well worth the effort, made to feel very welcome and everybody was friendly and helpful thanks to all at gloucester LUG, that will become a regular meeting for me .

yeh i have spent couple of pounds on a book LPI in a nutshell and bought a few bits from linux emporium im not one for plugging people unless they have earnt it heh the emporium have been good and prices are well fair although they dont have loads of stuff .well worth a snoop and got little enamel tux .

got too much on as is normal for me. but im falling deeper in love with linux and better than even that i really am enjoying pressing the on switch and no mr gates and his secret backdoor user experience, mind they are all as bad at the bottom of this blog there is an advert for highclere stud now why would a horse racing yard advertise on a linux forum ? heh and a real curious 1 i actually mentioned the name of a flat horse called loch verdi that is trained by the baldings who are highclere stud hhmm is that coincedence?

heh how about this i was twiddling on google with email account names (dont ask me why ) but i got myself a good one
redhat.usr@googlemail.com.
redhat.systms is still available if you want i bet whatever your distro you can get something nearish to be pretty cool good hunting and worth an hour or 2 of anybodies time..

my main bits to get done on linux at the moment is
getting the digital tv to work (im mostly there on ubuntu just need to sort out the channel scanner havent looked at centos yet.
getting to mount the 4gb memory card i put into my vodafone modem thats a strange one if anyone has figured it out give me a clue or 2 its weird because i can open it and format the drive to any of the file systems but i as yet can not mount it hhmmm yes i am thinking of having an operating system on half of it so i can boot into my own portable distro wherever i go but that wont be happening this week.

now lets end with a 2 day timewaster (it was for me ) i bought a printer and after doing but of research first, got just a printer and hp that appeared to be a solid bet for getting things working so home i came unpacked it and went to work i had fedora 10 on the tower at the time which said that there was a problem with one of the cartridges but i couldnt see anything wrong with it so spent the complete weekend trying everything before finally giving up at around 6am on the monday morning took it back to the shop got my £35 back went to tescos and bought a far better model photosmart c4480 for £2.17 more brought it home in less than hour i had it working on fedora 10 and ubuntu jaunty and installed centos 5.3 and installed and had the printer and scanner working there aswell. so next time my system tells me that my hardware isnt working even when its brand new i will be inclined to trust it . i downloaded the hplip drivers used the cups interface had half a dozen linux books all over the floor and do you know although at times i was very frustrated i never attempted to chuck it in the bin and get some sleep i think i enjoyed myself for much of it although i was super elated when i saw that test page print. i can assure i now know what it feels like to win the lottery
