Post Unable to SCP


hi all,

I am trying to scp a huge file which is more than 2 GB from one location to the other.
i got the error saying that "huge file"

when i checked with the ulimit -a , i got the result set to the default.

Please let me know how to or the procedure to increase the file size.

Hi shravee,

You can use rsync. It will help you to copy large data with comprassion.

Hi sem007,

rsync is not working in my AIX 5. plz let me know any other alternatives. the error was rsync not found. i tried " man rsync" but retrieved no predefined manual.

You can check for the limits for all users at /etc/security/limits and just look at the default: value for file. A value of -1 is unlimited. Just remember that when you make a change to default user that if not explicitly stated otherwise that all user will get this. Also you should after changing this log out and back in to have this take effect.

you can also change the limit for a file size for example for your current session `ulimit -f x' The number at the end is a 512 block if I recall correctly.

I think if you want rsync you would have to install it. I don't think it is in a standard install but should be on the install media if you wanted to add the package.
