Read snap.pax

Hi,

Is there anyway to read the snap.pax file which is sent to IBM when you log a support call?

Yeah, but that is doing it the hard way...

Typically they ask for a snap -xxxc which produces a snap.pax.Z

Uncompress it
uncompress snap.pax.Z

Unpack it
pax -rvf snap.pax

Then read the files with cat, or similar.

The easy way:
The snap command output will all be copied to /tmp/ibmsupt before it is packed and compressed so to save the trouble of uncompressing / unpacking just cd to /tmp/ibmsupt and cat the files in there.

You can also cat the snap script to see what it gathers.
Most of it is just normal AIX commands.

Thanks for the reply DukeSSD.

They actually asked for a snap -gbc, but the files in /tmp/ibmsupt is what I was after.
By the way, that snap script is fricken huge!

So you have an SSA problem, let us know if you need any more info on either the snap command or the SSA problem.

It seems that SSA skills are getting quite rare these days, now the product is end of life and all the developers have "moved on".
