Question Is there virtual machine software for AIX 5.1 or 5.2


I need to test functionality of an application running on AIX 5.2, the best way for me to this is find virtual software like ie vmware to install it on, does anyone no where i can find virtual software that can run AIX 5.2 or 5.1?

No you cannot "virtualise" AIX "off platform" it will not run on any hardware other than IBM ppc: rs6k / pSeries / system p / POWER, and there are no "other" virtualisation platforms, like vmware, etc. that can virtualise it.

If you need to run AIX then you need AIX capable hardware.

Yes, there are "virtualization solutions" for AIX. Several, in fact.

No, VMWare isn't one of them. VMWare only supports x86 architectures.

Yes, you'll probably need PowerPC hardware (e.g. a physical AIX box) in order to run a VM; just as you'd need an x86 PC (Windows or Linux) to run a VMWare image.

So "Yes, there is"
... but ..
"No, it's probably not what you're looking for"
