I own a small business where we run our business ERP sytem on an RS6000 unix based system. Currently we have 25 dumb wyse terminals that run the ERP system only and a half dozen pier to pier PCs that use a terminal emulator to run the ERP system. I am interested in putting in a server network and I am also interested in using Linux for the server and desktop (at least as many of the desktops as possible). The part that I am most concerned about is running my ERP system on the Linux desktops. I understand that Linux is a UNIX hybrid (I hope that's right), so I would suppose this is possible. I would like to verify that it is possible and if so, how do I effectively accomplish this? Oh yeah, btw, my ERP system is called Prophet21 acclaim (
www.p21.com). They don't support using Lunix with their system, which means that they haven't done the testing themselves (which doesn't surprise me because they have traditionally been about 5 years behind...also the reason that I am looking at other ERP system options). Please help me!
