Help with AIX/RS6000 & Linux Network

I own a small business where we run our business ERP sytem on an RS6000 unix based system. Currently we have 25 dumb wyse terminals that run the ERP system only and a half dozen pier to pier PCs that use a terminal emulator to run the ERP system. I am interested in putting in a server network and I am also interested in using Linux for the server and desktop (at least as many of the desktops as possible). The part that I am most concerned about is running my ERP system on the Linux desktops. I understand that Linux is a UNIX hybrid (I hope that's right), so I would suppose this is possible. I would like to verify that it is possible and if so, how do I effectively accomplish this? Oh yeah, btw, my ERP system is called Prophet21 acclaim (www.p21.com). They don't support using Lunix with their system, which means that they haven't done the testing themselves (which doesn't surprise me because they have traditionally been about 5 years behind...also the reason that I am looking at other ERP system options). Please help me!

Although Linux and AIX are both 'UNIX' systems, they are not binary compatable. Programs built on the 6000 will not run on a Linux box. p21 will have to give you Linux binaries of the programs, if in fact they are delivered in binary format.

Thank you for your reply. Is there a terminal emulator available for Linux that will run a Wyse60 terminal, like I have for Windows?

I really want to get away from Windows as much as possible!

Just try it directly from your Linux system. Login to the Linux system, then rlogin to the AIX system, AIX should take care about the terminal description, because th ERP probably has a description of the ansi terminals.

Hi,

Have you try to use Wine to use Prophet21?
I've see in Google that Wyse60 already exist for Linux and Mac OS X.
