Man Scribus is an awesome app. But why compare apples and oranges. I voted Scribus to give it the recognition it needs. It does its job in its field better than any of the others do their jobs in their fields.
well, i voted SCRIBUS because GIMP is obvious general gfx app. i had to take some stuff to press recently and was totally impressed with SCRIBUS. i have been recommending it with GIMP (yes gimp is good) to all the printing houses i do business with :P
Distribution: Debian on one box & Kubuntu on another

I voted for Blender but I wanted to vote for Gimp & Inkscape as well. I use all three together & they serve as the best proof I have that open source is the way to go.
Why isn't Art of Illusion a choice? If that's because it uses some proprietary Sun APIs then fine, but I like AOI better than Blender. Well, my vote is the GIMP.
It has improved a lot lately and has virtually eliminated my need for GIMP (and its terrible user interface).
People have funny opinions maybe it's about how long you've been with it, but I like GIMP's user interface, and lately when I had to use Photoshop, I have to admit that I missed GIMP's ui, I'm so used to it. So, for GIMP it goes.
UFraw plugin would be yet one reason, except that it's not part of the "official" GIMP. And at the moment it fills my needs only partially; it's a grief that manufacturers create only Windows programs.

You know I would be willing to pay for a program for Linux if it was commercially viable. It seems when someone makes something for us its an after thought that only works with certain distros.
