After several years I found my own post when I was investigating the same topic again. Since this is one of the top results if you search in duckduckgo, I will correct myself here.
This topic actually popped up as a security topic regarding insecure protocol systat. This is not really the BSD utility reffered earlier in my post. It's a xinetd service running on a TCP port 11. Via this service you can get sensitive system info by:

telnet <host-ip> systat
Therefore it is recomended to disable the service in inetd (xinetd).
