FreeBSD Installation

I downloaded the 2 FreeBSD iso images. The checksums were good. I burned the images.
When I tried to install on an old windows drive, the install disk claimed to detect a FreeBSD installation. The only options were boot options. Booting proceded to 'loading /' and then hung. What am I doing wrong?

What were the options you were given? I just installed FreeBSD and selected the first option when first booting the burned iso, etc and it started the installation phase.

If its hanging though, could be a hardware conflict that its encountering. If you can provide hardware details that might help us determine the problem.

It's been a few days since I threw the cd's out, so I can't be sure. (saved the images) There were 3 to 5 options, all involving booting. When I let the default go, I got a normal boot screen intil it cqme to loading kernel. Then it froze. I'll try again if you think you can figure something out.

ASUS P4P800S motherboard
onboard Realtek NIC
radeon 7200 video card
512 M RAM
WD 80G hard drive
I prepared the drive by putting it through fdisk and running mke3fs.
