floopy install ???

I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to install any OS with floppy then finish with network (need good pcmcia support). This will be for a laptop that the cd-rom went dead on and I cant afford the $400 for a new one. Any info appreciated................

You can find instructions for installing FreeBSD via floppies and FTP or NFS at FreeBSD's website:

Best of luck,

You did say any OS

For OpenBSD, go to ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/3.1/i386 and grab whichever .fs file you need. These are floppy images that start the installation, partway through which you can opt to do an FTP install. If I remember right, there are pcmcia images, but don't quote me on it.
