Dragonfly BSD installation failure

I've been using FreeBSD but I thought I'd try dragonfly. Problem is that the documentation isn't clear. My installation goes fine except I'm not sure what to pick for networking. And I'd like to have a shell like there is in FreeBSD but I don't see that option. The biggest problem is that when I'm done it says hit any key to reboot but it doesn't work. So I shut it down and reboot. It starts fine and then I get wiggly lines at the top and it stops. Any suggestions? Thanks

Perhaps some of the Dragonfly users can help you if you specify what the networking problem is. What is it you are having trouble picking?

Thanks anyway. I decided it was too much hassle. The problem with networking is it gave me 5 options for my wifi.

You're welcome. A solution may come to you. It is sometimes enjoyable to tinker with a new OS on a virtual machine and play with options.

I have been trying to install version 5.0.0 rc2, without total success. I'm following a YouTube video for version 4.8 with xfce4.
It does not like my Logitech wireless mouse. Better instructions would be welcome.

5.0.0 was released over a week ago, so try that instead of the rc installation media.

Just in case - and only a guess - but boot the installation with ahci(4) driver disabled - I've seen random lockups on my machine in the past related to this (some buggy hardware and AHCI implementations just don't work well with it - and my BIOS on this old machine has AHCI, "SATA" and crappy soft-RAID options). 5.0.0 installer locked up consistently with it enabled.

If it installs ok, add the tunable hint.ahci.disabled=1 to loader.conf(5), which will disable ahci permanently.

5.0.0 also locked up on reboot post install for me, but installation went ok.

For the corrupt display issue it's hard to say as you haven't stated what hardware you have or posted a dmesg. But I suggest asking on dragonfly-users mailing list rather than a Linux forum.
