WARNING:
I have been having some trouble with getting my sound to work in various Linux distro's, so yesterday I thought I'd give FreeBSD 5.1 a try. Now I'm having some issues with my X configuration as well (somehow it insists on starting up wrong, but oh well... I'll figure that out), but what I really want to know is how to check in FreeBSD whether or not my soundcard is being picked up. I know in Slackware I can do "lspci" and it will show me all my PCI cards, but I cannot find any command like that in FreeBSD. Soooooo......
.... if someone could point me in the right direction it would go highly appreciated. Or is there is some better way to just check the sound from the command prompt, please feel free to entlighten me.
The computer is an old Compaq Armada laptop, Celeron processor with around 300Mhz, 4GB, ESS Audiodrive soundcard (it *says* on the BSD site that that's supported in FreeBSD), Chips Technologies videocard (works perfectly), etc. So a very old and basic system. If you need to know more tech specs, please tell me how to go look for them, because this computer was a givaway, hence no product booklets.
Thanks VERY much for any and all help you guys can spare!!!
